LEE COUNTY, Fla. - The last day of school this year is one Trystynn Burt will never forget. Her dad, an army Sergeant, came home to surprise her after he spent the last 4 1/2 years stationed in Japan.

Sgt. James Burt says, "it was a long time coming, and it was amazing."

He surprised his 14-year-old daughter during her 8th grade last day of school celebration at Cypress Lake Middle School.

When Trystynn finished singing with the Panthers Singers, her dad walked on the stage to greet her. Their 30 second hug was years in the making. Sgt. Burt says, "t's very difficult, but unfortunately the army tells us where we have to go and what we have to do and sometimes sacrifices have to be made, and I'm just glad my kids are strong enough and their mother to get through it."

His daugther says, "it was crazy, I haven't seen him in a while so it was definitely a surprise."

Sgt. Burt says it was very special to hear his daughter sing. "It was very nerveracking. I was glad I was able to get up there beforehand and see her perform, this is the first time for that." And Trystynn agrees. "It meant a lot because he hasn't really been able to see my performances except the recordings my mom does."

Now the family is ready to make up for lost time. They say it took a look of teamwork from the school to pull of the surprise.
