UPDATE 9:30pm - Residents of Montura Ranch Estates are being allowed back into their homes after a voluntary evacuation order due to a brush fire.  The fire burned 75 acres before being 100% contained by 40 responders from 8 different agencies on scene. No structures were reported damaged and no injuries were reported.

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla.- Residents in the Montura Ranch Estates area are being evacuated due to a 55-acre brush fire.

Residents between Brida and Estibo Avenues are being asked to evacuate to the Montura Clubhouse.

The Hendry County Sheriff’s department and fire departments are going to door to door with evacuation instructions.

The Hendry County School Board has taken action to safely house students whose bus stops are affected by the fire and smoke, to the Montura Clubhouse where they are being supervised as the school reaches their parents.

The fire is not contained at this time and units from Glades and Lee County, as well as the Division of Forestry are assisting Hendry County units.
