NORTH FORT MYERS, FL.--On Sunday, May 25, 2014, at 11:22 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to 1064 North Tamiami Trail #83, North Fort Myers in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck and a female subject that had been injured during the altercation.
The victims were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital as result of their injuries.
Due to the nature of the incident, detectives with Lee County Sheriffs Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was inside a room when an unknown male subject came to the door. The male subject identified himself as law enforcement and ordered the female to open the door. Once the door was opened, the male subject burst in, forcing the female back into the room. The male subject punched the female victim in the face and struck the victim in the face with a firearm.
A short time later, the male returned and entered the room. As he entered, the male victim got into a brief altercation with the male subject who was attacking the female victim. The male subject then shot the male victim in the neck and fled.
During the investigation, detectives were able to identify a possible suspect. They met the male subject at a location in Lehigh Acres and based upon the investigation, Alexander Demetrius Woolbright was arrested and charged with:
• Aggravated Battery
• Felony Battery
• Armed Burglary
• Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer
