COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol is monitoring a 50-acre brush fire burning south of Alligator Alley. They're reporting smoke causing some light visibility issues near mile marker 57.

Trooper say smoke is occasionally shifting and affecting the road. If winds continue to shift tonight, they say Alligator Alley could be closed east of SR-29. The road is not expected to be closed at this time unless conditions deteriorate.

Troopers will be monitoring the area. In the meantime, motorists are asked to use extreme caution.
