COLUMBIA, SC- The 81st Regional Support Command will honor a fallen Naples soldier by renaming the Cape Coral US Army Reserve Center after him.

The Cape Coral Army Reserve Center will be named in honor of Staff Sgt Marc Scialdo.

Scialdo was born in upstate New York and grew up in Naples, where he graduated from St. John Neumann High School in 1999. He died on March 11, 2013, when his UH60 Black Hawk crashed near Daman, Kandahar Province Afghanistan.

Scialdo’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (Posthumous), two Air Medals, Army Commendation Medal with combat distinguished device, and four Army Achievement Medals. He is survived by his wife, Kara Ann Scialdo.

The memorialization ceremony will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12.
