LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Planes, trains and automobiles... No matter how you choose to travel this Memorial Day weekend, AAA experts say more of us will be going away for the holiday.

Business is booming at the Race Trac gas station, off I-75, as people look to get their vacations started. AAA expects this to be the busiest Memorial Day travel weekend since the recession. They say 36.1 million Americans will travel.

A few hundred travelers were spotted at the gas station just since the morning, telling WINK News about their plans to fly, and especially drive. About 8 in 10 travelers will drive to their vacation hotspots. Lucky for them, gas prices are down about 20 cents since last month.

It's actually an increase in hotel rates, as well as airfare, up six percent from last year, that is leading people to the roads.

AAA says driving is the easiest and cheapest way to go.

Memorial Day weekend continues through Monday.
