CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating another inmate death at the Charlotte Correctional Institution. This is the second death there in as many months.
FDLE confirmed that they are working an active death investigation after inmate Damion Fosterdied last night. They were on the scene earlier today, conducting interviews.
This latest investigation comes just one day after we are learning more about the death of another inmate, Matthew Walker, who died in April. Although the State won't say how Walker died, they did release the names of nine guards currently on leave the incident. A tenth has been fired. Walker's personnel file shows no disclipinary issues.
As for last night's death, FDLE says they will not be releasing any more information at this time. Our calls and emails to the Florida Department of Corrections went unreturned.
