COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported theft of a hovercraft off Isles of Capri.

Detectives say someone cut the lock off the trailer tongue and took the 2013 Neoteric Hovercraft and trailer from an empty lot in the 300 block of Capri Boulevard on May 13 or May 14.

The hybrid vessel is 14 feet long and has a Florida vessel registration number of FL8403PP. It has bright red interior and bright green graphics on the exterior that read, “Outer Limits.” The vessel was covered by a black canvas at the time of the theft.

The owners of the Hovercraft tell WINK News they started a new business with it but the craft couldn't hold up to the salt water enviroment and were going to return it to the factory. They were hoping to get credit back for what they invested in it but now it's gone.

The owners are offering a $1,000 cash reward for the hovercrafts return.
