COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- "If you don't do your own defense, and something happens, you only have one person to blame for it."

That's why Dr. Norman and Gail Thomson are going on the defensive.

"Stand back I have a taser."

With the help of Naples Security Solutions, the couple is taking classes and learning how to use a taser, even a gun.

"Feeling that if somebody came here, we wanted at least to have the ability to defend ourselves," said Dr. Thomson.

The company tells WINK News, they're seeing more people interested in beefing up their security, all because of five home invasions since February, in Collier County. Detectives say these four men, busted last week and now behind bars, may be responsible for the crimes.

"I cant think of anything more terrifying than what those families have been through," said Gail Thomson.

The Thomson's are taking their safety even further. Once the clock strikes five, their house is on lockdown.

"All the shutters will be down, and the alarm would be on. And if we were staying home that's the way it would be for the entire evening."

All because they fear they could be targeted next. Remember, in one of those crimes there were five crooks, meaning at least one suspect could be still stalking our streets.

"We didn't know where these people were coming from."

WINK News asked about the penalties those suspects could face. An attorney tells us, they could face life in prison for home invasion with a firearm and kidnapping.
