FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Police Department arrested 32-year-old Salomon Nieves Vazquez yesterday for leaving the scene of a crash that killed a pedestrian back in April of this year.

FMPD said they found 36-year-old Keythe Perez deceased on Palm Beach Blvd. just after 6:15 a.m. on April 9th. Police believe Perez crossed Palm Beach Boulevard in the path of Vazquez, who was traveling eastbound.

The day after the crash, an officer discovered Vazquez had left the crash scene, went to work for a short period of time, and returned to the scene just prior to police arrival.

The investigation further revealed a co-worker confronted Vazquez just minutes after he arrived to work after noticing major damage to his vehicle which prompted Vazquez to return. The officer re-interviewed Vazquez, who ultimately confessed to the crime, according to FMPD.
