FORT MYERS, Fla - Lee County Health Systems rents a building on Carrell Rd. to offer three services: home health, rehabilitation and wellness. As their lease comes close to expiration, however, the board members have decided to find a new spot.

"What happened recently is we sent a letter to our members letting them know that the annual membership program for the wellness center is ending at the end of August," said Mary Briggs, Media Relations at Lee Memorial Health Systems.

Home Health will move to it's own building. That location is still up in the air. The rehabilitation section will move down the road to this spot on Cleveland, pending the board's approval next Thursday. The Wellness Center, however, won't have its own building.

"The wellness program part, the membership program, we're going to discontinue," Briggs said, "but we are going to have many of those same programs available at the new rehab location."

Phyllis Lee has been going to the Wellness Center about 30 years and says the move is no good.

I don't know if they need a new building or not. It seems to be OK to me," Lee said, "I don't know. I'm thinking of transferring to Cape Coral, the facilities that they have there."

Briggs says their plan is to partner up with other facilities (like Fitness on the Move Wellness Center and Fiddlesticks Country Club) to offer the same services, only at different locations.
