NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - An early morning fire in a mobile home in North Fort Myers has left one man homeless. Frank Kent says he fell asleep on the couch watching television, when he heard a popping sound. Kent says he awoke to find the house was full of smoke.

He hopped off the sofa and ran outside, and that is when he called 911.

"All I seen were flames rolling out of my bedroom window, and a bunch of smoke," Kent said. "And then the house went up in like two minutes flat. It was gone. Everything was gone."

The single-wide trailer fire happened around 1:15 a.m. Monday in Suncoast Estates on Hart Drive. Firefighters on the scene say the trailer is a total loss, but no one was hurt in the fire.

The state fire marshall is expected to lead the investigation into what caused the fire, though preliminary investigations point to an electrical problem. Kent says he's been renting the trailer for about a year. He's been working to fix it up so he could eventually buy it.

The Red Cross will help Kent find a place to live.
