CAPE CORAL, Fla -- A month long mystery in Cape Coral. There's a house floating in the middle of the water and WINK News viewers want to know what it is and where it came from!

The strange house barge has been anchored off Tarpon Point Marina for weeks.
From rumors, to conspiracy theories, the house barge sitting quietly off Tarpon Point is causing quite a buzz among the boating community.

"What is that house doing out there?" asked one resident.

According to Jason Jarrett with Jasper's Bait, the company purchased the house barge in St Petersburg. "It was used in a movie back in the 80s called Thunder in Paradise with Hulk Hogan," said Jarrett.  "St. Pete was sad to see it go. It was a part of history for them," he said.

They floated it to Cape Coral and they're turning it into a bait shop, expanding their business in Popcorn Bay.

"Just the uniqueness of it. The size of it," said Jarrett.

It is considered a house barge, not a boat, because it does not have a motor.

Jasper's Bait is hoping to float it to its official new home about a mile away on Wednesday.
