JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Coast Guard officials are searching for the possible passengers of a paddleboat that has been found floating off St. Augustine.
The unmanned yellow boat was spotted Monday nearly 60 miles east of the northeast coast of Florida. A coast guard statement says watchstanders at its Jacksonville command center received the report from the cruise ship Carnival Fantasy in the morning.
A helicopter crew from Air Station Savannah, Georgia, was dispatched a short time later along with members assigned to Coast Guard Station Mayport in Jacksonville, which launched a response boat.
Anyone with information about a missing paddleboat is urged to contact the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center at 904-564-7511.
