CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Mariner High School student was arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening to assassinate the principal of Ida Baker High School and to place a bomb on the school grounds.

The principal shared information with the school resource officer that an unknown student had been posting threats on social media sites.

Lee County Sheriff's detectives located one of the accounts involved and found that the user specifically threatened to shoot up the school, place a bomb at the school, assassinate the principal, and rape a female Twitter follower.

Detectives were able to find out who was behind the Twitter handle, and located a physical address where the threats had been coming from.

LCSO made contact with the homeowner and her 15-year-old son. Detectives interviewed the two and found probable cause to arrest the boy.

He was transported to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center for processing.
