FORT MYERS, FL.--Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers says 19 yr old William Pennebaker is accused of sexual assault of a senior citizen last month in the Pine Manor community.

Authorities say forensic evidence linked Pennebaker to the violent assault, and he was taken into custody Thursday evening by detectives with the Lee County Sheriff's Office's Special Victim's Unit.

Despite his young age, Pennebaker has already established a felony criminal history, with prior arrests at age 15 for burglary and grand theft of a firearm, and at age 17 for burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

This evening, he is being charged with one count of a life felony for sexual battery and one count of armed burglary. " he community is safer tonight with this offender getting ready to spend time behind bars," said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator.  "This young man lived just a short distance from his victim, and anyone who has the capacity to commit such a heinous crime deserves to be relocated to the confines of a jail cell."

The report says the victim's 4-year old granddaughter was in the same bed during the rape.

Friends of Pennebaker's says there is no way he could have committed this crime.

"He is a good guy, you know, he has had trouble in the past, but as far as to go and do something like that, it's not him," said Kyle Covert.

If Pennebaker is covicted of these carges he could spend life in prison.
