CAPE CORAL, Fla.- The Cape Coral Fire Department responded to a crash after pool supplies being transported inside of one of the vehicles involved, spilled onto the driver of that vehicle. He was transported to the hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was OK.

It all happened on SE 10th St. at Country Club Blvd. The chemicals also spilled onto the road, causing lane closures for a short period of time.

The chemicals were initially washed off of the victim at Florida Heart Associates, which prompted an evacuation of entire building for an hour. Officials were afraid the toxic fumes would spread.

The Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene to dispose of the chemicals.
