LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of several shots fired into a home at 28th Street Southwest and Mae Avenue in Lehigh Acres. Several children and adults were inside the house when someone started shooting, according to LCSO.
Crime scene investigators have been on the scene all morning, collecting evidence, but this isn't the first time deputies and investigators have been at this house. In August of last year, deputies responded to a shooting there as well.
An incident report states they arrested Michael Dukes for shooting his girlfriend, who was also five months pregnant, in the head. Neighbors didn't want to talk on camera, but all said the same thing: this house is a problem house in their area.
What happened this time around was what is believed to be a drive-by shooting. WINK News crews counted 19 bullet holes in the house, the car in the driveway and the front window.
Investigators also found numerous bullet casings on the ground in front of the home. There have been no injuries reported.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said several children and some adults were home when this shooting took place, but all escaped unharmed.
At last check, the deputies didn't have a suspect in custody. If you have information about this crime, you are asked to call SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
