LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Tuesday night, tense words between neighbors on Parker Avenue in Lehigh Acres turned violent. Lee County deputies say a man swung a machete at another man.
Tuesday night, tense words between neighbors on Parker Avenue turned violent. Deputies say a man approached 35-year-old Christopher Rosario with a request to keep his dog inside overnight.
"That dog starts barking and he wakes up the whole neighborhood," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified.
According to an arrest report obtained by WINK News, a neighbor said rosario came toward him with the machete raised over his head as if he was going to swing it at him. A witness told deputies the man ducked out of the way and "if he would not have moved, he would have been struck."
"All of a sudden, police cars started coming," the neighbor said. "There was another police car, then another police car, and then when they stopped in front of Chris's house, I thought, this isn't good."
The neighbor involved told deputies, he fears for the safety of his family, pets and home and thinks Rosario may retaliate. He and his family didn't want to talk about it on camera, still shaken up by what happened. And, they're not the only ones.
"I can't believe that a dog escalated into that kind of a situation where physical violence was about to occur," the neighbor said.
Rosario was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He's in the Lee County Jail. Neighbors tell me, they're looking forward to things being much quieter around here.
