EAST NAPLES, Fla.- After deliberating for more than three hours, a jury has found Tood Akers guilty of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse.

Akers killed his fiancee's 2-year-old daughter eight years ago, but he claimed Abigail Baron slipped while he was holding her, and her head hit the floor.

Since the trial started last Thursday, the jury heard the 911 call from the day Abigail died. They've also heard from Abigail's mother, and from Akers himself, as well as testimony from a doctor regarding the girl's injuries.

Akers told authorities the girl fell out of her bed, and was having trouble breathing, but doctors said that was inconsistent with what they saw.

Akers faces life in prison.
