COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- "This was somebody putting identities on a golden platter and giving other peoples identities away with no effort at all."

A Collier County neighbor made a stunning discovery inside his community's dumspter.

"Birth certificates, report cards, even financial information."

He didn't want to show his face but tells WINK News he was angry when he found private information belonging to local children.

"This is a treasure trove in the wrong hands. These kids, in the wrong hands, they're gonna have problems theyre entire lives after this happens."

Kids like Pamela Moore's son. WINK News found her phone number and address, even her son's photograph, in the trash.

"This is my son's private information. I don't even have words for it."

WINK News is learning many of the documents were used to sign kids up for a youth football league. WINK News tracked down and spoke to the volunteer who dumped all that information. He said the sheriff's office has contacted him.

"It wasn't my intention to throw out these documents. I might have overlooked some things. I did not intend to do any harm to anybody, especially the kids of my program."

Moore said she's happy the papers didn't end up in the wrong hands.

"This is something that could follow him for years to come what if it was somebody who had the wrong intentions," said Moore.

The Sheriff's Office tells WIK News, detectives are going through every name on those documents to see if those people had their identity stolen. At this point, that does not seem to be the case.
