CAPE CORAL, Fla.- The Cape Coral Police Department announced the arrest of one of their own today. Casey Ortiz, 34, was arrested on a warrant for two counts of unlawful sex with a minor.

The investigation began in February, when the victim's parents brought forth allegations that a police officer had engaged in sexual activity their 16-year-old daughter.

Detectives searched his home and his cell phone for details provided by the victim.

Ortiz was arrested and transported to the Lee County Sheriff's Office today.

He has been relieved of his duties, but Ortiz had been employed with the department since January 9, 2006.
