FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.- Two people were taken as trauma alerts to Lee Memorial Hospital after a late night car crash at the Matanzas Pass Bridge on Fort Myers Beach, according to Lee County deputies. It happened around midnight.

The Fort Myers Beach fire department says the Matanzas Pass bridge was closed for a few hours, and they had to use the jaws of life to get some passengers out of a minivan involved. The fire department also tells WINK News there was major damage to both vehicles involved. The status of the passengers' injuries is unknown at this time.
