FORT MYERS, FL. Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying an unknown man who broke into a 62 year old woman’s home earlier this week, held her at knifepoint, then sexually battered her, while her four year old granddaughter was asleep nearby.
The attack happened shortly before 5 a.m. on Monday, April 21st in the 5000 block of 5th Avenue. According to the victim, she was asleep in her home when she awoke to find a Hispanic male in his 20s standing at her bedside, with a knife to her throat. The man ordered the victim to remain quiet, and take off her clothes, at which point he forced her to have sex with him. Before leaving, the suspect said that he would be returning to the victim’s home. The victim may have inadvertently left the front door to the home unlocked, which is how the suspect may have gained entry.
A composite sketch of the suspect has been developed, and Crime Stoppers is hoping someone can identify him. He’s described as 5’5” – 5’10” with an average build, 150 pounds, with a tattoo on his right arm from his elbow to his wrist, and two stripes – possibly ropes or chains – across his forearm. Detectives believe he is likely familiar with the neighborhood.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
