FORT MYERS, Fla - Deputies tell WINK News two women are in critical condition, after being hit by a car on Kingston Avenue.

"Oh my gosh! You're freaking out because it happened so fast," said witness Alexis Johnson.

Johnson's day took a surprising turn for the worse around 8:40 Thursday morning.

"I was just getting gas and next thing I know two ladies getting run over," said Johnson.

Johnson was at this 7-11 on Palm Beach and Kingston when she says a man and two women started arguing.

Johnson says the women went to leave and the man followed them out of the parking lot in his PT cruiser.

Another witness, who wishes to remain anonymous for safety reasons, says what happened next was no accident.

"He came out bolting with the car, and it looked like he was directing it at them. Like I said, it looked deliberate. They were screaming, screaming, so everyone came out," said the witness.

She says while the women lay on the ground, the driver pulled into a driveway nearby.

"He swerved into the house and it looked like he was trying to get away but it didn't work," she said.

The cruiser was later towed away.

Deputies say it is an ongoing criminal investigation. They did question the driver, but say no arrests have been made.

They have not released the names of the victims or the driver.
