TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida Republicans are saying Gov. Charlie Crist and his law firm broke campaign finance laws.

A Republican Party of Florida top official filed a complaint Monday with the state elections commission.

The complaint contends a Tallahassee television station ran an ad Sunday put up by the Morgan & Morgan law firm that features Crist. Crist joined the firm after losing his 2010 bid for the U.S. Senate.

In the ad Crist thanks "unsung heroes."

John Morgan, founder of the firm, said all ads featuring Crist were taken down when he started running for governor. He said the station ran the wrong ad and that it owes both him and Crist an apology.

State law limits how much a person, or corporation, can donate directly to a campaign.
