FORT MYERS, Fla. - Saturday, people from all walks of life and all over Southwest Florida celebrated the life of a local legend and trusted Meteorologist, Jim Reif. He died last week after being injured in a bicycle accident. He's remembered as someone who not only touched lives, but saved lives.

"Jim was a pilot, accomplished scuba diver, he loved those ocean cruises but to me, he was a great tour guide and a great friend," longtime friend Dave Brown said.

Old tapes dusted off from archives filled McGregor Baptist Church with that same roaring laughter. Big names like Hoda Kotb and Shepard Smith, who started their careers in Southwest Florida, showed how far-reaching his impact was.

"Jim was just a great guy," Smith said. "I remember him as the one, to whom Southwest Floridians always turned when the weather got bad."

"My heart grieves along with yours but we are here to celebrate a life that was full of celebration - celebrating his job, his expertise, his passion for every single day," former co-worker Jim McLaughlin said.
