TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A bomb sniffing dog in Tampa will retire with full military honors.

Military officials say that in 2012, a Belgian Malinois named Eddie found two improvised explosive devices containing 10 pounds of homemade explosives. It saved the lives of his 13-member patrol unit, which was made up of U.S. allied forces.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/1ge5P65) reports that Eddie will retire during a ceremony on Friday.

The dog is assigned to MacDill's 6th Security Forces Squadron and has served for about five years. In retirement, he will be reunited with his first handler, Andrew Grymes.
