LEE COUNTY, Fla.-  Investigators tell WINK News the human remains found Thursday afternoon, were so decomposed, all that remained were human bones.

Deputies found the bones, as they were investigating another incident in the area.

The scene is near Colonial Boulevard, east of I-75.

It took almost 24 hours, but investigators are now able to say the human bones found in this wooded area, are not there because of any foul play.

The scene is deep beyond our view.

Investigators have been battling heavy brush and inches of mud all day, using shovels, rakes and clippers to cut it all down, not wanting to miss a piece of potentially crucial evidence.

Even bringing the fire department out to spray down the area, and make sifting easier.

It's a scene people that travel down this road often, find unnerving.

"Something I never thought about. It's something scary you know. It's the first time I hear that around this area. Not common or something that happens around here everyday," said Yudisel Martinez, a student who goes to school nearby.

"It's not nervous it's just there's no reaction to it. It's just wow, it's crazy," said Bryant Carter, a guest at the Candlewood Suites nearby.

The Sheriff's Office can't determine whether the body is that of a man or a woman, or how long the body has been there.

They say it could take months for those results to come through.

They will be at the wooded area for several days, to continue their investigation.
