COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The remains of a female panther were collected today, six miles east of Immokalee on CR 846.
The panther died as the result of a collision with a vehicle early this morning.
The poor condition of the remains prevented an accurate assessment of the panther’s age. The carcass is being stored at the Naples Field Office and it will be eventually transported to the FWC Wildlife Research Laboratory for necropsy.
This is the tenth panther mortality and the sixth due to vehicle strike for 2014.
