COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A Collier County pharmacist and his mother have been sentenced for healthcare fraud today.

Delmer Parrish and his mother, Patricia, pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud. Investigators said they submitted fraudulent prescriptions and claims for dead patients at Sunshine Pharmacy in Naples for nearly three years.

Delmer Parrish was sentenced to 24 months in jail.

Patricia Parrish was sentenced to three years of probation and 120 days home confinement.

Both were also ordered to pay restitution to the United States in the amount of $351,358.14, the proceeds of the crime.

Delmer Parrish's attorney wanted a lighter sentence, and said that he was "in a haze" and was addicted to drugs and alcohol.

Patricia Parrish received a lighter sentence, ultimately, because of her age. She is 74 now.

The two were investigated over a three-year period.

Both were apologetic in court today.
