PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Yesterday, Governor Scott stopped in Southwest Florida to thank some of our local heroes.
A short, yet meaningful ceremony was held to honor dozens of veterans at the state veterans nursing home in Port Charlotte.
The men living in this building served at different times and different places, but the thanks is just as special for each veteran.
"The freedoms and opportunities that are afforded by the American dream, are paid for by the service and sacrifice of our brave veterans," said Gov. Scott.
One by one, each veteran received a medal, and a sincere "thank you."
Gov. Scott and his father both served in the U.S. military.
