PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - WINK News cameras caught special visitors soaring into Charlotte County: The United States Air Force Thunderbirds! They're here to put on a show for you this weekend at the Punta Gorda Airport.

You'll hear them, before you see them, speeding like a bullet across the sky.

Major Joshua Boudreaux is in the cockpit of the "Left Wing." He's been flying F-16 fighter jets for years.

"Been in Afghanistan, Libya, South Korea, Italy and in various places througout the U.S., it is one of these best fighters out there," he said.

You can see these aircraft in all their power and precision, Saturday and Sunday at the Punta Gorda Airport, in the 34th Annual Florida International Air Show.

They fly at speeds up to 1500 miles per hour.

"During the show you're going to see us going us at speeds of 500 milers per hour.  At one point one of our solos might come roaring by at 720 miles per hour!" said Maj. Boudreaux.

You'll walk away from the show with a bit of education and appreciation, as these pilots hope to inspire the next generation, and preserve history at the same time.
