COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Collier County's second salute to Veterans is getting ready to take off next month. The Collier County Honor Flight is scheduled to make a trip back to Washington D.C. on April 26th, with 50 World War II Veterans on board. The organization sends Southwest Florida vet's to visit the monuments and memorials dedicated to their service to this country. WINK News went along for their inaugural flight in November. The group is also planning two additional trips in the fall. Fundraisers are planned to help raise the funds needed for this trip, a gift to the Veterans.
On Saturday, March 29th, an Honor Ride is scheduled at 9 am at the Naples Harley Davidson to help support the Honor Flight. It ends at Cafe Luna on Tamiami Trail East. Then on April 16th, a sunset cruise aboard the Pure Naples Double Sunshine. Dinner will be provided with plenty of drawings for prizes, as they cruise into the sunset of the Gulf of Mexico.
