LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating an early morning crash in Lehigh Acres that sent four people to the hospital, one of them seriously injured.

Troopers say it happened just after 5 a.m. on Homestead Road and Arthur Avenue. They say two cars were heading sound on Homestead when a garbage truck turned left onto Arthur Avenue. At the same time, troopers say a car tried to pass the truck and hit it. The car hit a bolder before coming to a stop.

FHP says the driver of that car, 23-year-old Jean Kendel Lawson Pierrot, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Three other passengers in the car went to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the garbage truck was not hurt. Charges are pending in the crash and the road re-opened just after 9 a.m.
