FORT MYERS, Fla. - Police are trying to track him down a suspect they say robbed a Fort Myers business in the middle of the afternoon.

WINK News was first on scene Thursday afternoon in a strip mall on U.S. 41, only blocks away from Lee Memorial Hospital.

A restaurant and adult novelty store were both targeted by the crook. Only one was actually robbed. At this point, police hope surveillance video will be a key factor in tracking that guy down.

Amanda Lee works at Mangia Bene Italian Restaurant and says the suspect walked in like any other customer.

"He was tall, slender, he had a blue ball cap on, dark sunglasses and he was very clean cut," Lee said.

It soon became clear to her, he wasn't after food, he was looking for money. Surveillance video obtained by WINK News captured the whole thing.

"He presented a note stating to give me the money now," Lee recalled. "I looked at him, asked him, are you serious? And, he's like, yes. And, i'm like, I don't have access to the register."

When she went back to get a manager,
he got impatient, even took his sunglasses off, and walked out.

That's when Fort Myers Police say Use Your Imagination, an adult shop right next door was hit in the same way. But, this time, they say the suspect got away with money. A worker told said off-camera, she gave the crook a hard time at first, not knowing whether or not he had a gun.

Lee saw the man walk out of Use Your Imagination.

"That is really scary," Lee said. It took me a minute to calm down after I heard that. I'm still shaking a bit."

After police tape was taken down, it was back to work for these two businesses, both hoping for a much quieter night.

"I think it was maybe some very desperate person," Mangia Bene owner Teresa Salvatore said. "It's unfortunate. Thank God everyone was okay. We are not worried."
