IMMOKALEE, Fla.- The Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported burglary and rape that happened on March 9 in an Immokalee mobile home.

The victim reported the crime the next day, admitting she did not know how to use 911 or how to write, and was afraid to tell her husband.

The crime allegedly took place at 3:20 in the afternoon, while the victim happened to be home alone, hanging laundry on a clothes line in the backyard. She told deputies that she noticed her front door was ajar. When she walked inside the trailer, she felt something hit her on the back, causing her to trip over the laundry basket and fall to the floor.

The victim said there was unknown man inside her home, who grabbed her and covered her mouth. The victim tried to scream but couldn't, and when she struggled to get away, the man twisted her arm. He reportedly said in Spanish that if she would just "let it happen, he would not kill her."

That's when the victim said he then sexually assaulted her, took her underwear and left. The victim took a shower and cleaned the floor with bleach the following day. Her arm and thighs were visibly bruised.

Deputies are looking for a man with a medium complexion and medium build. The victim said he was wearing a black ski mask, an orange shirt and blue jean shorts with cargo pockets. If you have any information, you are asked to call SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
