PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives, working with members of an FBI task force, have arrested two Port Charlotte men in two separate incidents on charges of possession of child pornography.

James David Blaisdell, 30, and Anthony Richard Hartwig, 33, both face charges of Possessing an Image of a Sexual Performance by a Child.

In mid-February 2014, detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Office’s Computer Crimes Unit began an undercover investigation into the distribution of child pornography within Charlotte County. During the investigation, detectives made undercover contact with a computer that was advertising about 90 files of suspected child pornography.

As the result of their investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for 302 Millport Stree, which, along with members of the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, was executed on March 14. During the search at the house, they located 10 files of confirmed child pornography on a computer at the residence. The computer and other evidence was seized for further forensic examination.

Blaisdell was charged with 10 counts of Possessing an Image of a Sexual Performance by a Child. Blaisdell is being held at the Charlotte County Jail on a total $100,000 bond.

Another Sheriff’s Office detective who is assigned to the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force began a separate, similar investigation in June 2013. During his investigation he contacted a computer that was advertising more than 100 images of suspected child pornography and was able to download several files. An FBI agent from Oklahoma also contacted the same computer and obtained an incomplete download of a similar type file.

Sheriff Office detectives got a search warrant for the location of the computer in question and served it earlier today. During the search of the residence, detectives found at least 10 images of confirmed child pornography on Hartwig's computer. As with the Blaisdell case, the detectives seized the computer and other evidence for further examination.

Hartwig was also charged with 10 counts of Possessing an Image of a Sexual Performance by a Child. He is being held without bond at the Charlotte County Jail pending his First Appearance hearing.
