CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Cape Coral Police arrested 25-year-old Alex Saul Perrotta and 37-year-old Otis Marchman Saturday afternoon after a disturbance that led to a short pursuit, and a firearm being thrown from a moving vehicle.
At around 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call at 736 SW 8th Terrace. The caller advised that two men were in a black, four-door Pontiac in front of this residence and that a firearm had been brandished.
Responding officers saw a vehicle, matching that description, in the street in front of the residence. As responding units got closer, the vehicle began to leave the area.
Officers noticed equipment violations on the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver (Perrotta) allegedly refused to stop and accelerated away from the marked patrol car, at one point running a red light at Santa Barbara Boulevard and Pine Island Road.
While traveling east on Pine Island Road, a black handgun was reportedly tossed from the vehicle. One officer stopped to secure the loaded, small-caliber, semi-automatic handgun.
Police said the vehicle turned onto NE 10th Place and then turned east, crossing several vacant lots and driving between houses. The vehicle came to a stop between two residences in the 1100 block of NE 9th Street when both occupants attempted to flee on foot to the south, but were quickly apprehended.
A witness from the initial disturbance was brought to the scene and positively identified both subjects as being at the residence and Perrotta as the subject who displayed the firearm.
Marchman was found to be in possession of Cocaine, Suboxone, Hydromorphone, one unidentified pill (submitted to FDLE for testing and identification), and Heroin.
