FORT MYERS, FLa. -- Only WINK News cameras captured the scene of a U.S. Marshal take-down. Orental James Allen, known as OJ on the street, is now behind bars.

The U.S Marshal's office says he tried to flee but crashed into a tree at the intersection of Carrell Road and Evans Avenue in Fort Myers.

U.S. Marshals with the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force swarmed the scene.

A U.S. Marshal tells WINK News they were conducting surveillance on OJ Allen, 21, who's accused of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.

We're told when Allen noticed he was being watched at some apartments near Winkler Avenue, he took off, then slammed through a fence at the intersection of Carrell Road and Evans Avenue.

After the crash, authorities say Allen tried to outrun the law, but made it about a block on foot before the U.S. Marshals took him down.

WINK News learned authorities are looking to see if Allen has connections to other crimes. WINK News cameras caught investigators rummaging through items in the trunk. Those who live nearby are glad this ended peacefully.

"Most of those things happen every day and some people get hurt. I'm really glad nobody got hurt," said Carlos Bataille.
