FORT MYERS, Fla.- This weekend, you and your family have the chance to renew your excitement about reading during the Southwest Florida Reading Festival.
Organizers are expecting around 18,000 people to attend this community event.
The tents are going up at Centennial Park.
The festival first started 14 years ago, and this year organizers say there are more visiting authors than ever. There will be adult, young adult and chldren's book authors. This will be a great opportunity to find a new author you might like, meet favorite authors, and get autographs.
The whole purpose of the festival is to bring the community together, and improve the quality of life here as a whole.
Studies have found that communities that embrace literacy and make it a big part of the community...literacy is really the foundation of education," said Margie Byers of the Southwest Florida Reading Festival.
There will also be food and a battle of the bands. WINK News will also have a booth there.
