FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) - Three people have been sentenced to lengthy prison sentences for their roles in the simultaneous robberies of two banks in St. Lucie County.
A federal judge on Tuesday imposed a sentence of more than 13 years on 23-year-old Raven Simone Sayers, who pleaded guilty earlier to robbery and firearms charges. Co-defendant Ivory Lee Robinson III was sentenced previously to nearly 22 years behind bars. Another defendant got more than eight years.
Prosecutors say the three were part of two teams that plotted to rob two PNC Bank branches simultaneously in July 2013. The group stole two vans for use in the robberies and used rental cars to make their ultimate getaway. But authorities eventually identified and arrested all six people.
The three remaining suspects will stand trial in May.
