PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office responded to the Waffle House, located at 9092 Mac Drive, after employees reported that the business had been robbed at gunpoint by two men. Now, they say they are looking into the possibility this robbery is related to two others.

In Punta Gorda, Waffle House Employees told deputies that two male suspects forced their way into the business just before 4:00 a.m. Both men were wearing masks and dark or camouflage-type clothing. Both men were also carrying handguns.

The men demanded money from the cash register and forced the employees to lie on the floor. They fled the area in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction.

WINK News asked a Waffle House spokesperson, if there's any help for employees.

"We do have a support line that will offer if you need to speak to somebody if they been affected by the incident."

CCSO is not releasing surveillance video, or photos right now.

Right now, they're working with LCSO to determine whether the violent crime is related to two similar robberies in Lee County.

"I guess these days you never know, it could happen anywhere anytime. People have needs and I guess whatever people need to do to have their needs met whether it means robbing a Waffle House," said Jodi Wilterdink, a customer.

Cameras at the Palm Beach Boulevard location in Lee County caught two men last month, as they broke into the restaurant.

Lee County Deputies believe they're the same ones who hit the Waffle House off Daniels Parkway, two weeks later.

The investigation continues.
