MIAMI (AP) - Miami-Dade County police officers fatally shot a man who charged them while holding two knives.

The shooting happened Tuesday as 20-year-old Federico Osorio's mother and sister looked on. During the confrontation, the officers used a stun gun but that didn't stop Osorio.

The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/1e0BHX8 ) reports a woman called police saying her son was "threatening to kill" her and his sister with a knife. Osorio became aggressive when officers arrived at the apartment.

Officers fired two Tasers at the man. But he grabbed two kitchen knives and lunged toward the officers. One of the officers shot him.

Later in the afternoon, the man's sister spoke briefly to the media. She said her brother was bipolar and suffered from schizophrenia.
