CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A group called Awake the State protested what they call an attack on the middle class by Governor Rick Scott and other politicians in Tallahassee.
About 100 people showed up to Tuesday's event outside of Cape Coral's city hall. They voiced their concerns on a number of issues including, education funding in the state, voting reform, healthcare and the environment.

Organizers say while they do not expect immediate change on the issues, they want politicians to know they are versed on the problems at hand and are willing to fight for change. Similar rallies were held simultaneously across the state last night. These "ordinary citizens" as they called themselves said they want to show politicians in Tallahassee that there is power in numbers, and they want to change the direction Florida is headed in.
