COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The Collier County Sheriff's Office is once again reminding members of the community to lock their vehicles.
Over the past two weeks, CCSO has seen an increased number of vehicle burglaries involving cars that were not locked. These types of burglaries are happening in various parts of the county but the highest concentrations recently are in North Naples and East Naples.
Deputies say car burglars often go from house to house tugging on door handles and targeting the vehicles that aren’t locked. Once inside they steal anything from loose change to sunglasses to electronics. They also frequently ransack the glove compartment searching for valuables.
CCSO advises the community to never leave valuables in view and always lock vehicle doors. In addition, CCSO encourages anyone who sees unusual activity to report it so that deputies can check it out. Call the agency’s administrative line, 239.252.9300, or in an emergency call 911.
