LEHIGH ACRES, Fla - Thieves stole a trailer full of donations from a good Samaritan. The woman was collecting items for a family who lost their home in a fire.
A 6 x 12 black trailer sat in Christy Lane's Lehigh Acres driveway everyday for four months, until late Tuesday afternoon.
"Everything that we had collected for a family, everything that was in the trailer, everything gone," said Lane.
The items inside, furniture and clothes, were all donated by Christy's family and friends for a family who attends Lane's church in Alva.
The Mercer/Woodard family lost everything in this fire, earlier this month.
Christy planned on surprising the family this week.
"Hopefully now, I can start collecting again and re start all over again," said Lane.
Now Christy says there are some clues, they are very hard to see, but there are small tracks here in the driveway, that Christy says do not belong to the family.
She believes, they may have been targeted.
"I think they knew our schedule, and kind of watched the house. They picked a day when no one was home on the entire street," said Lane.
The next day, a mile and a half down the road, Christy found some of their stuff, including clothes collected for the children, and parts her husband planned to sell to raise money.
"It was really sad, especially when you see the clothes, all your hard work laying on the side of the road, just tossed like it didn't matter," said Lane.
While LCSO investigates, she has a message for the suspects.
"Put it back in the driveway and we will call it even," said Lane.
If you have any information, please contact LCSO.
The trailer is described as black metal, with white wheels.
Donations are being accepted through Alva's Angels.
