CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A Cape Coral Charter School student is recovering after a bus crash this morning sent her to the hospital. It happened at the intersection of Chiquita Boulevard and NW 15th Terrace.
There were about 22 students on this bus. The scene is now clear, but you can still see where the accident happened by the fluids that leaked onto the road in the intersection.
Officers said fog is to blame.
The students, who range from Kindergarteners to eighth graders, were headed to Cape Coral Charter School when the driver of a blue sports car hit the bus. Officers said the driver didn't have her headlights on, and visibility was very limited to about 200 feet.
Paramedics evaluated all of the students on board and took their blood pressure. They transported a seventh grader to Cape Coral Hospital because she was complaining of back pain. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital. Both are expected to be OK.
