ALVA, Fla. - Lee County Firefighters say an unknown source caused a garage to catch on firem destroying a car and two golf carts inside it.

The fire broke out around 12:45 Wednesday morning. Firefighters from Fort Myers Shore, Alva and Lehigh Acres responded to the scene.

No one was injured. The family says they wouldn't be alive if not for their neighbors, who reportedly woke them, telling them to get out.

The homeowners' family is in town for a reunion, and was there to help them through the difficult sight this morning.

"It was not really easy to describe it. For one thing I was concerned for my family and their animals of course. How they were going to survive all of this. We are a pretty close family, pretty earth shattering for all of us to see it," said Karen Percha, the homeowner's sister.

A dog, two kittens, and a bird made it out alive as well.

The couple cannot stay in the home for now, according to fire officials.
