DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police say a teenager standing on railroad tracks in Daytona Beach was struck and killed by a freight train.

Police spokesman Jimmie Flynt says 17-year-old Giovanni Gonzalez was holding a skateboard and facing the train when he was hit Monday night.

Flynt tells The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1k8WUT4 ) that the train conductor saw the teen and continuously blew his horn, but Gonzalez did not move.

Flynt says the teen "didn't try to jump off until it was too late." Gonzalez died while en route to a hospital.

The death remains under investigation.
